Advocating Together for Lasting Change

My name is Natalie Mawson, founder of Voices for Change, an advocacy platform dedicated to raising awareness surrounding coercive control, domestic abuse, trauma, and the hidden impact of emotional and psychological abuse.

My passion for this work comes from lived experience. As both a childhood and adult survivor of domestic abuse, parentification, addictions, sexual abuse and violence, I understand first-hand the long-term emotional, psychological, and safeguarding challenges many survivors face. Rather than allowing those experiences to silence me, I chose to use my voice to support others, encourage open conversations, and advocate for trauma-informed change across public services.

Through Voices for Change, I provide a platform where survivors and individuals affected by abuse can safely share their experiences, feel heard, and help challenge the stigma surrounding trauma and victimhood. I strongly believe that education, compassion, and informed safeguarding practices are essential in protecting vulnerable adults and children.

I am currently continuing my counselling and advocacy work whilst studying towards a Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I hold a graduate in psychology and I am educated and experienced in CBT, counselling and EMDR. I am an independent researcher and non-clinical holistic practitioner with a focus on domestic abuse, psychology, trauma-informed healing and empowerment, offering independent, person-centred support services that move beyond rigid systemic approaches to prioritise emotional safety, human connection, recovery and identity rebuilding beyond survival.

I believe meaningful change happens when survivors are listened to, professionals are properly informed, and systems work together with empathy, accountability, and understanding.

At the heart of Voices for Change is one simple message:

Believe. Support. Protect. Empower.
