Who We Can Support
Voices for Change Advocacy CIC is a specialist advocacy service. We are not a general mental health advocacy service and we do not provide advocacy solely on the basis of a mental health diagnosis or condition.
Our advocacy is specifically for people who have experienced, or believe they have experienced:
Trauma or adverse life experiences that have been overlooked or misunderstood.
Coercive control, domestic abuse or psychological abuse that has been mistaken for mental illness.
Harm caused by psychiatric practice, inappropriate diagnosis or treatment.
Situations where life experiences have not been properly explored before a psychiatric label has been applied.
Difficulties accessing trauma-informed, holistic or rights-based support.
We advocate for people to have their experiences understood within the context of their lives, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights respected.
Is My Situation Suitable?
If you are looking for support with general mental health advocacy, benefits claims, housing, employment, or social care alone, we may not be the right service for you.
However, if these issues are connected to concerns about trauma, coercive control, psychiatric harm, misdiagnosis, or a failure to consider the context of your experiences, we encourage you to get in touch. We will discuss your circumstances and let you know honestly whether our service is the right fit.
